The most important scene is when the Doctor ignores Barbara which reinforces stereotypes in the 1960s showing how much society has changed since then.

The genre of An Unearthly Child is Sci-Fi. I can see this because of the chilling atmosphere and also the use of SFX to show something ominous and dark will occur.

It reflects the social and historical context of the 1960s to be really sexist due to the Doctor ignoring Barbara but pulling Ian aside to talk to him.
