1) What was the target audience for BBC Radio 1 in 1967?

Teenagers and young people

2) Why did Radio 1 initially struggle to attract young listeners?

Teenagers found BBC 1 boring and uncool back then but rather listened to pirate radio.

3) What audience pleasures did Radio 1 offer listeners in 1967? (Use Blumler and Katz Uses and Gratifications theory).

The audience pleasures given to listeners was a sense of diversion and personal identity where they could relate to the singer and how they love the music giving a sense of escapism.

4) How is the BBC funded?

The BBC is mostly funded through licenses paid by the Uk people.

 Lighting  -  The Forest is Dark and misty. This suggests to the audience that something supernatural and unholy will occur. It also suggest that in the opening scene something will occur that will change the boys life forever. Lastly, the foggy atmosphere shows something dangerous has been released and will cause harm and problems throughout the movie. Costumes  - The teenagers/ boys wear average clothes to communicate to the audience that the monster just targeted average teenagers who were on their way home.   1) What is a   conglomerate  in the media industries?  A conglomerate is a large company such as Disney which buys  other smaller companies to gain more revenue (profit) in order to get as higher profit margin. 2) What is a subsidiary? A subsidiary is a company that belongs to another country such as Disney buying PIXAR to gain control over all the characters PIXAR made. 3) What are the benefits for media companies of vertical integration? The benefits for media companies of vertical integration is that the company will seen more powerful amongst all the other companies which will lead to more profit 4) What are the benefits for media companies of horizontal integration?
