1) Write a 300 word statement of intent explaining what you are going to make for your real magazine exercise.
Statement of intent:
I plan to make a front cover and 2 page spread focusing on a teenage celebrity popular on TikTok who will be a victim of gun crime in a lone park inside of the heart of London foreshadowing the problems innocent people face every 6 minutes in the UK. The ideology of this is to show the suffering and issues London faces daily from robberies to terrorism attacks on anyone and possibly soon enough everyone.
This provides a sense of attachment to the people who suffered and underwent the same fate
The front cover will be titled GUNS DOWN. The main image on my front cover will be my prestigious celebrity holding their newly published book. I will use a variety of shots such as close ups, Long shots, Down shot, Over the shoulder and much more to signify power and dominance in society and the uprising of Gen Z. Lower angle shots will be used to create a sense of dominance and power spite the young age.
My protagonist Ali will be an upper-class celebrity who is launching a book about Change in the streets of London. This will subvert the stereotype of celebrities being careless and blinded by greed and fame as Ali will want to make a change for everyone and anyone. This will attract "the activist" audience as it will fire a spark in everyone's hearts to fight for a change and an uprising against the ignorant government. Through featuring a young 16 year old celebrity, the stereotype of young being useless and careless for society and its well-being. The aspect of the attacker being "unknown" creates a sense of urgency for the audience and suspense not knowing what will happen to the young star Ali.
One image will be Ali meeting a fan and small talking whilst in the background, a man all blacked-out with his face hidden will be shows sending and creating a sense of tension and urgency. Another image will be the attacked following Ali whilst he was on his phone whilst the unknown attacker will be holding an illegal firearm pointed straight at him. I will use close-ups to give a personal relationship with the audience and the protagonist. The dim lighting in the background will create a genre of sci-fi and an atmosphere of exigency. The unknown perpetrator/ Villain will be in mostly every shot foreshadowing something grim to commence.
